These Terms of Service govern your use of the ownCal application, website, documentation, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be legally able to enter into this agreement. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.

ownCal is a calendar utility that helps you view and manage calendar events from your device. Some features require access to calendars, notifications, or other system capabilities. You choose whether to grant those permissions and can revoke them in your system settings.

We may improve, update, suspend, or discontinue features from time to time. We do not guarantee that every feature will remain available or work with every device, operating system, calendar provider, or third-party service.

Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use the Service for lawful personal or internal business purposes.

• Do not use the Service in violation of applicable law.
• Do not disrupt, probe, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or related systems.
• Do not distribute malware, abusive traffic, or content that infringes the rights of others.
• Do not copy, resell, or exploit the Service except as permitted by law or an applicable open-source license.

You retain ownership of calendar events, notes, and other content you create or access. You are responsible for the accuracy, legality, and permissions associated with that content, including content relating to other people.

ownCal reads and writes calendar information through the calendar services configured on your device. Those providers may separately sync or store your content under their own terms.

The Service may rely on or link to third-party products such as Apple, the App Store, calendar providers, operating-system services, or external documentation. Your use of those products is governed by the third party’s terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for third-party products or changes they make to their services.

The Service, including its design, branding, software, and content, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms do not transfer ownership of the Service to you.

If you send us suggestions or feedback, you allow us to use them without restriction or compensation, provided that doing so does not identify you publicly without your permission.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

ownCal is a convenience tool, not a guaranteed notification, scheduling, emergency, medical, legal, or safety system. You remain responsible for verifying important dates, times, reminders, and event details.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, and mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially violate these terms, create risk or legal exposure, or misuse the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.

We may update these terms to reflect changes to the Service, law, or our practices. We will post the revised terms here and update the “Last updated” date. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms to the extent permitted by law.
